Maestros Leadership Team through ‘MaGreen project', led by a grouping of youths passionate about the environment, planted 5 000 trees in the flood prone lower Shire district of Nsanje.
The group’s media and innovations Director, Dennis Imaan, told Nyasa Times that they felt they could do something as Maestros on the situation to reduce the effects of the devastating floods that hit the district almost every year.
“There is a women’s group that we worked with. They too were interested in the tree planting exercise and we partnered with them by buying the seedlings and polythene tubes,” said Imman.
He said the whole project, which was supported by the US embassy in Lilongwe, cost them over K2 million.
